London - Christmas 2014

Just before Christmas we went up to London to see the Coca Cola truck and the Christmas lights and the night we were there, there was a fantastic sunset.  Of course perfect for taking some incredible photos of London's skyline. I didn't have a tripod but I used the railings to keep the camera as steady as possible.

The sky was really interesting that night the clouds were almost pink as the sun went down

Playing with angles on Tower Bridge - this was only a quick shot as we walked across the bridge, but I think I'd like to go back and try out some different shots here.

The Coca Cola Truck, everything felt really Christmassy, even the tip of the Shard beamed a light show into the sky

Caeden - November 2014

Janine and Terry had their beautiful baby boy Caeden on the 28th November 2014 weighing 6lb 15oz.  I was lucky enough to go and visit when Caeden was just two weeks old and take some photographs of the tiny bubba. I saw them again last week and I couldn't believe how much he has grown already looking back at these photos.  I can't wait to see him grow up, he's definitely going to break some hearts ;) congratulations Janine and Terry!!

Look at those tiny little toes!! Amazing!!

Blood Swept Lands & Seas of Red - October 2014

In October we went to see the incredible art installation of poppies at the Tower of London, to commemorate 100 years since the First World War.  The poppies were ceramic and each one represented a person from the British military who had died during the war.  It was quite something to take in, to actually think about how many people lost their lives and I thought it was a truly beautiful way to remember them.  I found it really touching to hear parents telling their young children, about what it meant and why they were there. All of the poppies were sold and raised millions for the service charities, what an incredible idea.

Hot Air Balloon August 2014

We flew in a hot air balloon with Virgin in August last year and it was one of the most amazing things I have ever experienced.  I would recommend this to anyone and everyone, it is unbelievable how you can be in a giant balloon with 14 other people, powered by heat and yet it can be the quietest place you have ever experienced.  The hardest part was getting in and out, as once the balloon is inflated you have to be pretty quick to get in but everyone helps each other to climb into the basket.  After that its up, up and away, climbing higher and higher.  Its amazing what you can hear from such a height, even a dog barking interrupts that silence, looking at the beautiful countryside views, floating over houses and fields its almost like being in a dream as you can't really feel the basket move even you literally glide through the sky.  These are some of my favourite photos.

Part of the experience is getting to help roll out and put away this enormous balloon, when its laid out of the ground you just cannot believe the sheer size of it

We were lucky enough to see a beautiful rainbow at the start aswell after some really heavy showers before the flight

And they're off!

Ok so obviously this wasn't taken by me - but the pilot had a seriously interesting contraption, essentially a giant selfie stick!!

And back to normal selfies

This is one of my favourites, just so many shades of green and so tranquil

An amazing experience I will never forget

Prague May 2014

I had been to Prague once before in my teens on a college trip but to be honest the trip was a disaster from start to finish and I do not have one single photograph, nor did I actually remember what Prague was like.  So when Jamie bought me a trip to Prague for my 30th Birthday I was surprised and intrigued about how I would feel going back there.  To my complete surprise Prague turned out to be one of the most beautiful cities I have been too and I actually walked around with a strange sensation knowing I have stood in these spots before but yet I don't remember it.  We had a fab weekend break and again another interesting and different city to capture with my lens.

The famous clock

There were so many interesting buildings, sculptures and art around Prague, in fascinating shapes, colours and materials.

I couldn't believe my luck when we realised there was a Tim Burton exhibition in the main square - I may have squealed and dragged Jamie in there in under 5 seconds

Illuminations at night over the river

The below photograph has been shortlisted for the Photoion 2014 Photography competition which is really exciting - 'Moody blues on the jazz dock'

This city is full of quirky architecture and sculptures

Really pleased that Jamie brought me back to Prague to dispell my uneasiness and to explore a fantastic city full of art and culture
