Location: St Mildred’s Church, Croydon and Oaks Farm
The day Katie and Matt said ‘I do’ was a special and memorable day for everyone, but particularly for me as I was there every step of the way to capture every moment. An early start at the hairdressers as the girls relaxed and had their hair done, then back to Katie’s parent’s house for make up and getting dressed.
It was an emotional morning and everyone seemed very nervous, apart from Katie who seemed ridiculously calm. The day had been planned for a long time, every detail had been thought out and it was clear that Katie was completely ready for the moment when she would commit to Matt for the rest of her life. Everything went to plan (possibly the smoothest I’ve seen!) and I was even able to have a lift in the stunning car to the church with Jen, Penny and Eve to arrive before Katie & Steve (Father of the bride).
The atmosphere happy and lighthearted continued from the church throughout the entire day. It was clear that this day meant a lot to both families. The vicar was very friendly & helpful, he really ensured that the service went perfectly. Mr and Mrs Fox emerged from the church with beaming faces!
All week we had all been a little apprehensive about the weather (myself included), the forecasts were not looking good and all I was praying for was for it to be dry. But we could not have asked for better weather, the sun came out literally as Katie got out of the car at the church and continued to shine until early evening. So much so, that I ended up getting burnt whilst taking the photos. (Next time I will add sun cream to my equipment list whatever the weather forecast!) The reception venue was at Oaks Farm, a beautiful country house with gardens surrounding it.
Once they'd greeted their guests we disappeared to take some photos of Katie & Matt alone before the group photos.
Then it was time for group photos, where Steve the best man came in very handy helping me call out and find the relevant family members and friends for the photos!
After a very tasty meal, there were some emotional and entertaining speeches which had everybody both laughing and crying!
The gorgeous cake and cupcakes surrounding it were all made by Katie's sister Jenny who did an amazing job. It tasted as good as it looks!! The red and blue cupcakes a surprise for the Crystal Palace supporters!
Then it was time to relax and unwind as the party got underway, and it was a great party! Everyone was up dancing straight away and partying the night away.
For me, to photograph the wedding of good friends and to know some of the friends and family there made it a fantastic experience for me and I feel very privileged to have photographed Katie & Matt’s special day. Good luck guys, I wish you a future filled with happiness!
